No. Through individualised forces, we move teeth biologically gently. A slight pressure at the beginning simply shows that the system is working.
There is no age limit. Crowding often returns from the age of 40 onwards and puts dental health or the bite at risk. As long as the teeth are still sufficiently firm, treatment is possible even beyond the age of 70.
With aligners, yes — you take them out to eat. With brackets we recommend avoiding extremely crunchy foods that could dislodge the brace.
